The CBI special court on Thursday extended the police custody of businessman Koneru Prasad, a key accused in the Emaar-APIIC township project case, up to November 14. The investigative agency on Thursday produced the accused before the court as the custody period granted earlier ended.
The CBI had arrested Prasad on November 3 and was granted his custody by the special court the following day. The CBI counsel informed the magistrate that the investigative agency needs extension of his custody as the accused has been withholding information by not cooperating with the interrogation process.
On his part, Prasad requested the court not to extend the CBI custody as he was being subjected to psychological torture and denied of proper accommodation, food and water. However, the magistrate granted custody of Prasad to CBI for four more days after hearing both the sides.
