Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee today discussed with Congress President Sonia Gandhi the political situation in West Bengal, which goes to poll next year.
Though the Railway Minister did not divulge details of her 30-minute meeting with Gandhi in Parliament House, sources said she raised a range of matters including the Congress-Trinamool Congress alliance for the upcoming polls.
She also briefed Gandhi on the spate of killings of her party workers and atrocities against them allegedly by CPI(M) cadres as part of a “political vendetta”.
“I discussed all political issues, including the state terror perpetrated by the CPI(M),” Banerjee told reporters.
“I have very good personal relations with her (Gandhi) for a very long time,” the Trinamool chief said.
The meeting took place amid speculation of an imminent reshuffle in the Union Cabinet in the wake of resignation of Minister of State Prithviraj Chavan on becoming Maharashtra Chief Minister.
Trinamool Congress, which has a total of seven ministers including Banerjee, has been demanding inclusion of one more minister in the Union Cabinet.
