Financial and muscle power seem to be playing a large role in the Rajya Sabha elections. All parties have fielded millionaires, with BJP candidates having the largest average wealth. Its candidate from Bihar, Ravindra Kishore Sinha, declared the highest assets of Rs 857.11 crore.

He is closely followed by Kakde Sanjay Dattatraya, an independent candidate from Maharashtra, with assets worth Rs 425.65 crore. Shiv Sena candidate Dhoot Rajkumar Nandlal had declared charges of murder, kidnapping and crime against woman
