The Centre will name a group of interlocutors to initiate a continuous dialogue process in Jammu and Kashmir on October 30. Top sources in the Home Ministry said the team will be formed in the next round of meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS).
While CPI(M) leader Sitaram Yechury’s name is doing the rounds as a possible leader of the group, the politburo member of the CPI(M) denied any knowledge about the appointment.
Soon after the last CCS meeting on September 25, Home Minister P Chidambaram had said that the government was planning to appoint a group of interlocutors under the chairmanship of an eminent person to begin the process of a sustained dialogue with all sections of people in Jammu & Kashmir.
