Naxals have damaged three mobile phone towers in Ganjam district on the wee hours of Wednesday by torching them.
Sources said the damages have been made as part of their announcement of two-day long state wide strike from January 4. The rebels destroyed the mobile towers of BSNL and Reliance at Goudagotha village and the battery rooms of another Reliance tower in Borada village.
As Naxals have blocked several roads connecting southern Orissa, vehicular traffic in several areas in southern Orissa district was off and in Rayagada district, shops and business establishments were shut down. State-run Orissa State Road Transport Corporation (OSRTC) has decided to withdraw its bus services to Koraput and Malkanagiri due to the bandh.
