The Saïd Business School at the University of Oxford has announced scholarships for India's future leaders in the fields of science, business and government.

The scholarships will be for places on the new Chevening Rolls-Royce Science and Innovation Leadership Programme, which has been set up in partnership with the Foreign and Commonwealth Office Chevening Scholarship Programme and Rolls-Royce.

The programme will cater for Indian career professionals working in science, innovation and related public administration, a university release said.

Modules will include bridging pure research and business and scientific entrepreneurship, practical processes of innovation, and commercialisation of research and technology transfer.

Richard Briant, programme director at the Saïd Business School, said: "We look forward with great pleasure to welcoming such an outstanding group of Indian professionals to Oxford and to introducing them to entrepreneurial and academic colleagues across the University including Isis Innovation, the Department of Continuing Education, Begbroke Science Park and Saïd Business School".

"Together, we will provide a most stimulating and memorable programme."

Lord Patten of Barnes, Chancellor of the University, said: "We are honoured to be leading the Programme and it will be a great pleasure for us to work both with the Foreign and Commonwealth Office Chevening Scholarship Programme and with Rolls-Royce."

David Willets, Minister of State for Universities and Science, said: "This is an exciting new scholarship, which has been uniquely tailored for India by one of the UK’s top universities. This Programme will promote the role of science and innovation as a driver of growth and opportunity in UK-India relations, forging lasting ties with India's future leaders."
