The Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs got a total allocation of Rs 81 crore for the year 2010-11 in the Union Budget.

The amount is just 1 crore higher than last year's allocation to the Ministry.

Although the Ministry was given an allocation of Rs 80 crore in 2009-2010, it could spend only Rs 60 crore.

Out of the total allocation, Rs 50.80 crore has been earmarked for celebration of Pravasi Bhartiya Divas, the annual event organised by the Ministry to connect with the Indian diaspora.
