Odisha approves Rs 26,277 cr new investments in three years

Odisha has approved the establishment of 31 new industrial units in the past three years, envisaging an investment of Rs 26,277.53 crore.

Most of the proposals approved during January 2012 to January 2015 are concentrated in the steel and power sectors.

"In the last three years, 31 proposals have been approved by the State Level Single Window Clearance Authority (SLSWCA)", industries minister Debi Prasad Mishra stated in a written reply to the state assembly. The biggest investment cleared in the last three years is the proposal for an energy academy and petrochemical complex at Sonepur in Ganjam district at an investment of Rs 10,000 crore. The project will be implemented by Sonepur Energy & Oil City Ltd, a special purpose vehicle (SPV) formed for the purpose. The petrochemical hub includes a 7.5 million tonne per annum (mtpa) petroleum refinery. A gas cracker unit will also come up at the hub with a capacity of 0.3 million tonne of ethylene. The principal end products will be polypropylene (PP) and high density polyethylene and linear low density polyethylene. A captive power plant of 500 Mw capacity and desalination plant of 120 million litre per day have also been proposed within the hub.

There is a proposal for LNG based 423 Mw power plant at Dhamra by J Green Power Ltd at a cost of Rs 3,106 crore.

Pellet projects proposed by Jindal Steel & Power Ltd (JSPL), SSAB Energy & Minerals Ltd, Fortune Iron & Steel Ltd and Sushant Minerals Ltd have been approved during the period.

Cement grinding units proposed by Emami Cement, Shree Cement, My Home Industries and Bhavya Cements have also got the go-ahead. The SLSWCA has also given nod to two multi modal logistics parks to be set up by Container Corporation of India (Concor).
