The socio-economic survey for the Rs 54,000-crore Posco project at Nuagaon panchayat, within the project site in Jagatsinghpur district, was hit today due to the protests of the local villagers. These agitating locals were backed by Congress leader and former legislator Umesh Swain.
The villagers of Nuagaon led by sarpanch Bhaskar Swain conducted a ‘protest meeting’ at Nuagaon on Monday in which Umesh Swain and other Congress leaders extended their cooperation for protesting the Posco survey.
Meanwhile, the district administration has planned to resume survey work at Nuagaon within two days and has requisitioned the deployment of four platoons of police forces at Nuagaon.
