Punjab gives green signal to Sterlite Energy Limited

Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today gave a nod to Sterlite Energy Limited (SEL) to add one more unit of 660 Mw to the upcoming thermal project of 1980 Mw at Talwandi Sabo as per provisions of Power Generation Policy 2010 of Punjab, thereby stepping up total generation capacity to 2,640 Mw.
A decision to this effect was taken by the Chief Minister in a meeting with the Talwandi Sabo Power Ltd (TSPL, the SPV for the project), Chief Executive Officer, B K Sharma.
Taking part in the deliberations, Sharma apprised the Chief Minister that the TSPL had already submitted the detailed feasibility report to the state government for grant of approval. He said that the efforts were afoot to make the first unit to be operational by the end of 2012.
