The Orissa government has clocked a growth of 43.81 per cent in its overall revenue collection, both tax and non-tax, for the April-September period of the current financial year, compared to the corresponding period of the last fiscal.
The total revenue collection for the said period stood at Rs 6218.97 crore as against Rs 4324.53 crore achieved in the same period of 2009-10. The state government by the end of September this year has achieved 45.98 per cent of the budgetary estimate of Rs 13526.01 crore for this fiscal.
The tax revenue collection at Rs 4576.64 crore in the April-September period of 2010-11 is a growth of 27.14 per cent over Rs 3599.72 crore registered in the same period of the last fiscal. The tax revenue collection till the end of September this year is 44.18 per cent of the budgetary estimate of Rs 10360.03 crore.
Among the tax revenue, sales tax collection was Rs 2766.18 crore, an increase of 28.03 per cent over Rs 2160.61 crore recorded in the same period of 2009-10. This sales tax collection is 44.09 per cent of the budgetary estimate of Rs 6273.26 crore.
The state excise collection at Rs 449.68 crore marks a growth of 37.49 per cent over Rs 327.06 crore collected in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal. It is also an achievement of 47.31 per cent of the budgetary estimate of Rs 950.50 crore.However, taxes and duties on electricity at Rs 207.75 crore represented a decline of 20.09 per cent over the collection of Rs 259.97 crore in the same period of 2009-10.
The non-tax revenue collection at Rs 642.33 crore is a jump of 126.59 per cent over Rs 724.81 crore which the state government had achieved in the same period of last fiscal. In doing so, the state government has achieved 51.87 per cent of the budgetary estimate of Rs 3165.98 crore.
