With two-and-a-half months remaining for Jharkhand Chief Minister Shibu Soren to become a member of the state assembly, ally BJP today said he would definitely contest a bypoll to fulfill the constitutional obligation.

"Every one knows about the constitutional obligation. Guruji (Soren) himself has several times said he would contest a bypoll," BJP's state unit President and Deputy Chief Minister Raghuvar Das told a news conference here.

Asked why no MLA has vacated a seat for Soren to contest when only 75 days were left for him to enter the house, Das said, "just wait till the curtain rises."

On whether the coalition was looking for a successor, Das said the media should not be under any such illusion.

"Our government will complete its five-year term successfully," Das asserted.

A Lok Sabha member, Soren took oath as chief minister on December 30 heading a JMM-BJP coalition, and has time till June-end to enter the state Assembly.
