The Samajwadi Party has given notice to Lok Sabha Speaker P A Sangma for a short duration discussion on the situation in Uttar Pradesh, which, if admitted, is likely to force the Congress and some United Front allies to either criticise Mayawati or publicly defend her.
Deposed Bihar Chief Minister Laloo Prasads RJD, Ajit Singhs BKKP, as also the Congress would be seen as siding with the BJP which is partner in the Mayawati government.
Several non-BJP parties may not like to publicly commit themselves for or against the BSP at a time when politics is in a fluid state and a major realisgnment of forces is in process among the non-BJP centrist parties.
The Samajwadi Party has given a similar notice in the Rajya Sabha also. The two notices are under consideration of the Speaker and the Deputy Chairperson.
