State's total own revenue projected at Rs 16104.90 cr

Orissa's own tax and non-tax revenue for 2011-12 is projected at Rs 16104.90 crore as per the budgetary estimates. If achieved, this would be a growth of 19.06 per cent over Rs 13525.99 crore projected in the budget for 2010-11.

Out of the total projected revenue of Rs 16104.90 crore, the state's own tax revenue in the next fiscal is expected to be Rs 12305.84 crore while non-tax revenue has been projected at Rs 3799.08 crore. In comparison, the state's own tax and non-tax revenue in 2010-11 and 2011-12 was projected atRs 10608.48 crore and Rs 3316.88 crore respectively.

Within the state's own tax revenue, professional tax is projected at Rs 165 crore, land revenue at Rs 465 crore, sales tax at Rs 7563.58 crore, state excise at Rs 1200 crore, tax duties on electricity at Rs 500 crore, taxes on vehicles at Rs 842.25 crore and stamps & registration fees at Rs 510 crore in 2011-12.

In the projections for the state's non-tax revenue for 2011-12, the revenue from non-ferrous mining and metallurgical industries is set to be the top grosser at Rs 3050 crore, forest & wildlife at Rs 90 crore, major irrigation (Rs 60 crore), medium irrigation (Rs 77.73 crore), minor irrigation (Rs 10 crore) water supply & sanitation (Rs 55.43 crore) and housing (Rs 12.01 crore).

The total revenue receipts of the state, including the state's own tax revenue, own non-tax revenue, state's share in Central taxes and grants in aid received from the Centre are projected at Rs 36383.36 crore in 2011-12 compared to Rs 32543.55 crore projected in 2010-11.

Meanwhile, the state's own tax revenue collection in the April-December period of this fiscal has reached Rs 7205.05 crore, a growth of 28.72 per cent over Rs 5685.63 crore achieved in the corresponding period of 2009-10.

The non-tax revenue collection at Rs 7205.05 crore is an achievement of 69.55 per cent of the Budgetary estimate ofRs 10360.01 crore for 2010-11.

Similarly, the state's own non-tax revenue collection stood at Rs 2768.47 crore in the April-December period of 2010-11, marking a growth of 71.09 per cent over Rs 1618.18 crore actually achieved in the same period of the last fiscal.The state's overall tax and non-tax revenue in the said period stood at Rs 9973.52 crore which is a rise of 36.55 per cent over Rs 7303.80 crore in the same period of 2009-10.

Also, the overall revenue collection at Rs 9973.52 crore is an achievement of 73.74 per cent of the Budgetary estimate of Rs 13525.99 crore.Within the state's own tax revenue, land revenue has registered the highest growth at 50.73 per cent, moving up from Rs 136.54 crore to Rs 205.81 crore. Likewise, entry tax on goods & passengers has rose from Rs 486.99 crore to Rs 713.18 crore, registering a growth of 46.45 per cent.

In the non-tax revenue category, revenue from non-ferrous mining & metallurgical industries has posted sharp rise of 86.23 per cent from Rs 1252.60 crore to Rs 2332.77 crore.
