Chief minister K Rosaiah today said that a memorandum would be submitted to the Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh, on Tuesday urging the latter to ensure that railways provided more rakes for clearing the existing stocks in godowns.

He said that the PM would also be requested to instruct the Food Corporation India (FCI) to open the required paddy procurement centres in the state and procure foodgrains at the MSP.

“On one occasion, the railway authorities said that they could provide 7 rakes a day but could not do so,” the chief minister said.
