State will spend Rs 2,500 cr on railway projects

The Karnataka government will fund to the extent of Rs 2,529.80 crore railway projects in the state in the next five years,Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa said. He conveyed this to Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee.
Yeddyurappa requested sanction for six projects — Talaguppa-Honnavar (83 kms); Shimoga-Harihar (84 kms); Kuduchi-Bagalkot (142 kms); Whitefield-Kolar (52 kms); Gadag-Haveri (84 kms); Tumkur-Davangere (210 kms) — in the coming Railway budget.
Earlier,Yeddyurappa had agreed to undertake sharing of costs in four projects being on non-cost sharing basis; to undertake four new lines for which Karnataka would give land free of cost and participate in 50:50 sharing of balance cost; five projects under public private partnership mode and; to continue cost sharing in six projects.
