After meeting Tamil Nadu Power Minister P Thangamani and state officials at Delhi today Piyush Goyal, Union Minister of State for Power, Coal, New & Renewable Energy and Mines (Independent Charge) said that state and centre officials have held several rounds of discussions.
"Tamil Nadu has in-pricipal indicated that they would like to join UDAY, Broad parameters have been broadly worked out. Final decision will be taken by the Cabinet," said the Union Minister.
Details of the discussions were not disclosed immediately. When contacted, Thangamani confirmed that state in-principal has agreed, but final decision will be taken after discussing with the Chief Minister.
Goyal said that the scheme would benefit the state about Rs 22,000 crore in the first three years and about Rs 7,000 crore every year after that.
