The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today announced its poll plans in Tamil Nadu, finalising alliance and seat sharing with five regional parties in the State.

BJP, which leads the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) will contest from eight constituencies, while its key ally Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK) will contest from 14 seats. BJP President Rajnath Singh said that the alliance will win 25 seats, out of the 39 seats in Tamil Nadu.

"This alliance is very very formidable one," he said at a press conference here to announce the seat sharing deal with the other five regional parties, including DMDK, Paattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) which received eight seats, Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (MDMK) 7 seats, Indhiya Jananayaka Katchi ( IJK ) and Kongunadu Munnetra Kazhagam (KMK), both with one seat each.

To strengthen the campaign the Prime Ministerial Candidate of BJP Narendra Modi will be in Tamil Nadu during the first week of April. Last year alone Modi visited four times to Tamil Nadu.

To a question on whether BJP is not late to announce the Alliance, considering all the other Parties have announced and started campaign, Singh said, "it is not late. We are announcing the Alliance at the right time and BJP started the campaign ahead of others in the State".

In his initial remarks he said, the BJP will give top priority to the fisherman issue, which was neglected by Congress-led UPA, from the State.

He added, people of India want decisive change and they are determined to unseat Congress led-UPA in the Centre and the decisive mandate is for a stable government in the Centre.

Speaking about issue relating to the controversy over allocating seat for L K Advani, he said, there is no crisis, while the Party want Advani to contest from Gandhinagar, Gujarat there are request from Madhya Pradesh that he should contest from Bhopal. "It is upto Advani to decide," said Singh.
