“The Loksatta has drafted its manifest not with an eye on garnering seats and votes in elections but on providing a detailed road map for facilitating development, welfare and reforms,” said party president Jayaprakash Narayan on the occasion. He also said the time had come to end the politics of dynasty, corruption, centralisation, divisions and freebies and refraining from repeating past mistakes.
The party also promised to eradicate corruption by setting up a strong Lokayukta and Ombudsmen at the district level, confiscation of properties of those who resort to corrupt practices besides citizen charters to ensure hassle-free services.
While the manifesto and the promises mentioned in the document is a statement of what the party can do if it comes to power, its president, however said they would contest only a limited number of seats, mostly in urban areas as the political atmosphere in the two states is surcharged and the time available for it is short.
On the liquor front, the party said it would allow liquor shops only in towns and mandal headquarters besides nationalising the trade as such.
Narayan, who represents the Kukatpally constituency in Hyderabad in the present Assembly, has hinted this time he would contest from the Malkajgiri Lok Sabha constituency in the Hyderabad region. The party would release its policy paper on electoral alliances tomorrow.
