Finance Minister P Chidambaram today said the government is watching the rupee movement against the US dollar and is in constant touch with the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).

The Indian rupee is currently at a 15-month low against the greenback and has depreciated Rs 0.35 per dollar in the last two trading sessions.

"We are watching the situation and I am in touch with the RBI governor," Chidambaram.

"This is a dollar-impacted change," he said adding, "other currencies, like the euro and the yen, have depreciated more against the US dollar."
