According to data from Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority (Irda), the life insurers collected new premiums of Rs 19,216.18 crore for the three-months ended June, as compared to Rs 19451.3 crore in April to June 2012.
Private life insurers saw a 1.5% dip and collected Rs 4,921.49 crore as new premiums for the period.
The country's largest insurer Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) also saw a marginal one% dip in new premiums and collected Rs 14,294.69 crore as new premiums.
