Nomura appoints Borkakoty as head of equity markets

Global investment bank, Nomura, on Monday announced the appointment of Indraneil Borkakoty as head of equity capital markets (ECM), India. In this role, he would report to its head of investment banking for India, Nipun Goel and head of ECM for Asia (excluding Japan), Mark Williams, a press release issued here stated.

Commenting on his appointment, Goel said: “Indraneil brings invaluable experience and expertise. This will further strengthen Nomura’s presence and continued build-out in India as a leading Asia-based global investment bank.”

Indraneil joins from Kotak Mahindra Capital, where he headed ECM. He spent five-years at Kotak Mahindra Capital and prior to that worked at ICICI Securities, KPMG, and Lazard. With 15-years experience, Indraneil brought an extensive track-record in equity capital markets, having managed numerous landmark transactions, the release said.

“This appointment is crucial to our strategy of building the leading ECM franchise in Asia,” Williams said.
