RBL Bank appoints Rama Bijapurkar as independent director

Bijapurkar is an expert on market strategy and India's consumer economy

RBL Bank, previously known as Ratnakar Bank, today said it has appointed Rama Bijapurkar as an independent director on its board. Bijapurkar is an expert on market strategy and India's consumer economy. She runs her own consulting practice and works across a range of sectors.

She serves or has served as an independent director on the boards of several Indian companies including Infosys, Bharat Petroleum, Axis Bank, Godrej Consumer Products, CRISIL, ICICI Prudential Life Insurance, Mahindra and Mahindra Financial Services and Titan Industries.

"Rama is well recognised as one of India's most respected thought leaders on market strategy...As we have embarked on an aggressive growth path with a keen eye on our consumer business, we look forward to her deep insights to aid our board decisions in achieving these goals," Vishwavir Ahuja, managing director and chief executive officer of RBL Bank, said in a statement.

Bijapurkar is a member of the governing council of the Banking Codes and Standards Board of India, the Insurance Information Bureau of India, and the Eminent Person Advisory Group of the Competition Commission of India. She also serves on the board of governors of the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIM-A).
