The Indian Rupee appreciated by 14 paise to trade at Rs 45.24 a dollar at the Interbank Foreign Exchange market in the morning trade today, tracking gains in other Asian currencies.
Dealer said firm opening of the stock exchanges and American dollar's losses against other Asian currencies kept the rupee sentiment firm.
The rupee had gained 50 paise to close at Rs 45.38/39 against the US currency in the previous session, on strong domestic equity markets and dollar selling by exporters.
Meanwhile, the Bombay Stock Exchange index Sensex opened 234.25 points or 1.18 per cent up to 20,084.25 level in the opening trade today.
