Rupee gains most in a month

The rupee gained the most in almost a month on speculation that global funds would buy emerging- market assets after the Federal Reserve said it has the tools to support growth in the US economy. The rupee rose 0.2 per cent to 46.05 per dollar at the close in Mumbai.

BONDS REMAIN WEAK
Government bonds on Monday continued their downward march for the third session in a row on persistent sell-off from banks and companies. The 7.80 per cent government security maturing in 2021 declined further to Rs 96.55 from Rs 96.70, while its yield rose to 8.33 per cent from 8.30 per cent last weekend.

CALL RATE STABLE
The overnight call money rate moved in a range of 8.10 per cent and 7.75 per cent before closing at last Friday’s level of 8.00 per cent.
