A new research has revealed that more than half of the US adults, about 56%, are the proud owners of a smartphone.
According to the study by the Pew Research Center, just 41% adults carried a phone-only portable device, down from 48% two years back, the New York Post reported.
The age group 18 to 29 years had the highest percentage of ownership of smartphones at 90%, compared to just 43% of seniors.
Nearly 35% adults have a tablet, while 24% own an e-reader.
The study also found that about 67% cell owners checked their phone for messages, alerts or calls even when their phones didn't ring or vibrate.
