Debit, credit cards amongst precious possessions of MH17 victims stolen from site

Credit and debit cards and other precious belongings of MH17 crash victims are allegedly being stolen from the crash site in Eastern Ukraine.

Pro-Russian separatists are accused of stealing their belongings as well as destroying evidences at the site.

The Dutch Banking Association said it had been providing precautionary measures to ensure that stolen cards were not used for personal purposes.

The Dutch Association also said that they would provide compensation to victims' families.

The Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutt said that it was shameless how pro-Russian separatists were stealing precious possessions and roaming aimlessly at the crash site.

According to reports, there was not a single wallet with money, camera or mobile phone at the crash site.

According to news.com.au, Alexander Borodai Prime Minister of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic said that local residents may have stolen the victims' belongings.

Passenger possessions are to be returned to their families in such an incident under the Aviation Disaster Family Assistance Act but Russian separatists are preventing investigators from accessing the site.
