Nawaz Sharif chairs All Party Meeting

All major political parties, including Imran khan's Tehreek-e-Insaf to participate in the conference

Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Monday chaired an all party meeting to chalk out a comprehensive strategy to tackle the menace of militancy and terrorism that is plaguing the country.

Prior to the meeting, Sharif and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chief Imran Khan met at the Prime Minister's Office here.

Army Chief Gen Ashfaq Parvez Kayani and Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan also attended the meeting besides ISI Chief Lt Gen Zaheerul Islam.

Cricketer-turned-politician Khan had sought a special meeting with the Prime Minister and Army Chief before the start of All-Party Conference to get a briefing on the issue of terrorism and get feedback from the government besides giving his proposals to tackle the issue.

All major political parties have accepted the invitation to participate in the conference.

ISI chief is scheduled to brief the APC that will be chaired by Sharif. The Army Chief will also apprise the political leadership of overall security situation in the country.

Interior Minister Khan has said the government is making efforts to bring peace to the country and the political leadership is fully cooperating with it as they cooperated on Karachi law and order issue.

He expressed the hope that a consensus resolution will be adopted at the end of the conference which will give a roadmap to the government as to how it should move forward to overcome terrorism and establish peace in the country.
