Pak court rejects Musharraf's medical report as 'inconclusive'

Former Pakistani President General Pervez Musharraf's medical report prepared by the Armed Forces Institute of Cardiology's (AFIC) has been rejected by the prosecution of high treason case as "hypothetical, inconclusive and unsatisfactory."

The prosecution said that the report was an attempt to foil the judicial process by urging the special court to come to a decision regarding further interventions without expressing as to whether the pre-requisite tests prior to angiogram had been performed, the Express Tribune reports.

The conjectures mentioned in the report are inapplicable to the accused and do not deserve a serious consideration, the prosecution added.

It said the special court had directed the constitution of a medical board, comprising senior doctors of the AFIC, to verify Musharraf's state of health following his continuous non-appearance before the special court for trial in treason case.

The prosecution claimed that the findings of the report were vague and gave no reasons as to why a patient of such a disease needed constant hospitalisation since January 2, 2014, especially without any progress in his clinical evaluation.

It also said that it is now manifested that the accused is prolonging stay in hospital in order to evade the judicial process.

The prosecution requested that the special court pass appropriate orders for the attendance of the accused as per the mandate of law.
