World leaders are offering condolences and extending their support in the global fight against terrorism, following the terror attacks in London that killed six people and injured dozens others.

"Following latest #London incidents with horror. Thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families. Please stay safe," tweeted President of the European Union (EU) Commission.

"Our prayers and resolute solidarity are today as always with the people of Britain in the face of the shocking terrorist attacks in London," tweeted Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull.

French President Emmanuel Macron also condemned the attack.

The attack started last night when a van rammed into pedestrians on London Bridge and ended with multiple stabbings at restaurants nearby.

It was the third terror attack to strike the country this year, after a man drove a car into pedestrians on Westminster Bridge in March and a bomb attack on an Ariana Grande concert in Manchester two weeks ago.

Following the attack, London Mayor Sadiq Khan said the threat level in the country is still "severe".
