The Third Man walk
At the end of World War II, Vienna was occupied by the Allied forces and divided into four zones. It inspired novelist Graham Greene and director Carol Reed to create the Orson Welles-starrer The Third Man (1949). (It was later adopted into an eponymous novel.) Noir and espionage fans could do a ”Third Man walk”, as I did, visiting many of the places in the movie, such as Café Mozart, Josefsplatz and the famous Hotel Sacher. There are professional tours, but doing one on your own can give you the thrill of starring in a Cold War classic.
