Despite sluggish growth and uptight market condition, average salary offers at Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar (XIMB) grew by 6 per cent this year for all its 180 students, compared with last year.
The average annual compensation stood at Rs 11.42 lakh per year for students of 2010-12 batch, up from Rs 10.76 lakh in 2009-11, said Father P T Joseph, director of the institute during a press meet.
XIMB achieved 100 per cent placement record in the second week of January this year. A total of 61 companies participated in the placement process, branded as Xuberance 2012, up from 45 companies providing job opportunities last year. There was also one international placement this year, against two in 2010-11.
Olam International offered the highest package of $50,000 a year in global job category, while highest domestic salary package stood at Rs 15.5 lakh a year.
“A new paradigm was established in the consulting area with 14 per cent of the students foraying into this field. Cognizant Business Consulting, Deloitte, KPMG were some of the major recruiters,” said Father Joseph.
Besides, 23 per cent students got jobs in marketing, 22 per cent in finance and 22 per cent accepted jobs in system category, offered by mainly IT companies. The HR area witnessed the presence of recruiters like Tata HRDP, Shapoorji Paloonji, Tata Motors, Capgemini, L &T Group and Vedanta recruiting 14 per cent of the batch. The institute also recorded 100 per cent placements in Rural Management course with highest salary touching Rs 9.5 lakh per annum and average salary hovering around Rs 6.78 lakh per year.
