Students at Delhi University's Faculty of Management Studies (FMS) have got attractive summer placements with the highest stipend witnessing a staggering 150 per cent rise compared to last year, to '2.5 lakh offered by an investment bank.
The average stipend for the internship period increased by almost 42 per cent to an all time high of '85,000. A record 145 companies were present and 91 companies made offers.
“The 2010-12 batch, comprising 235 students, saw an increase of 18 per cent from last year, distributed among the two full time programs MBA and MBA-Management of Services, was placed in just five days,” said Prof. A Venkat Raman, placement convener, FMS.
The highest number of offers on the campus was made by Citibank, closely followed by Accenture Business Consulting, Tata Administrative Services, Hindustan Unilever, Procter & Gamble and Mahindra & Mahindra. International roles were offered by Hindustan Unilever and Coca Cola, while P&G and Kraft-Cadbury offered the supply chain role on campus for the first time.
“A highlight of the summer placements was the variety of profiles, including supply chain and HR, offered by companies such as P&G, Kraft-Cadbury, Adobe, Wipro, L&T, Cummins, etc for the first time on campus,” said Neha Bhargava, student from the media relations team of the institute.
While Arthur D Little offered international roles to two students, Accenture Business Consulting led the domestic front with six offers. Deloitte Strategy & Operations, KPMG, PricewaterhouseCoopers Advisory Functions, Avalon Consulting and Korn Ferry International too offered consulting roles.
Colgate Palmolive, GSK Consumer Healthcare, Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages, Reckitt Benckiser, Johnson & Johnson, Wrigley, Pepsi, Britannia, Dabur, Godrej, Marico, Kimberly Clark, Heinz, SABMiller, Perfetti Van Melle, CavinKare etc also recruited in large numbers from the campus for marketing.
Avendus Capital, Jacob Ballas PE, IDFC PE, Helion Ventures, IDG Ventures, Deutsche GMC, Religare Global Asset Management, JP Morgan, Motilal Oswal Investment Banking, Nomura, SBI Capital, Langham Capital, Synergy Consulting, Singhi Advisors, offered students summer internships for two months in finance.
In IT, Lenovo emerged as the biggest recruiter with six offers.
