Bharti in limelight ahead of MTN deal deadline

The stock touched a low of Rs 416 and finally settled at Rs 419, up 1% from the previous close. The counter clocked volumes of 1.20 million shares as compared to the two-week daily average traded volume of  896,382 shares on the BSE.

Bharti Airtel has gained in morning trades today, ahead of the deal deadline on September 30, 2009.

The stock opened at Rs 416 and surged to a high of Rs 429 - up 3.6%. The stock is trading off the day's high at Rs 422 - up 2%. Around 173,176 shares have been traded on the BSE so far.

September 30 has been fixed as the deadline for the deal between Bharti Airtel and MTN. The companies will have to reach an agreement by this date for its cash-cum-swap deal worth around $23 billion.
