Shares of Cairn India rose by 7.9 per cent to Rs 172.35 on the back of an increase in crude oil prices. US light sweet crude gained $1.8 to $39.5 a barrel on Monday amid escalating violence in West Asia, which has stirred worries about energy supply disruptions.
The stock opened 2.7 per cent higher at Rs 164 and made an intraday high of Rs 175 and a low of Rs 161.55. Trading volumes were 1.9 million shares vis-à-vis two week average of 1.4 million shares. The stock made a 52-week high of Rs 342.50 on May 21 and a 52-week low of Rs 88.15 on October 27, this year.
