Cardamom prices rose by Rs 9.40 to Rs 904 per kg in futures trade today after speculators enlarged their positions, largely on the back of pick-up in demand in the spot market amid low stocks.
Restricted arrivals from producing regions also supported the rise in prices.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for August delivery rose by Rs 9.40, or 1.05% to Rs 904 per kg, with a trading volume of 47 lots.
Similarly, its prices for delivery in July increased by Rs 9.30, or 1.04% to Rs 902 per kg, with a business volume of 117 lots. The spice of June delivery gained by Rs 6.70, or 0.76% to Rs 879 per kg, with a trading volume of 195 lots.
Traders said a firming trend at the spot markets on the back of pick-up in demand against restricted arrivals from producing regions, mainly attributed rise in cardamom prices at futures market.
