Castorseeds futures declined further on the oils and oilseeds market here today on persistent offering from stockists. Elsewhere, castorseeds bold and its oil both eased on lack of industrial demand.
 
In the futures market, castorseeds April contract resumed lower at Rs 1970 and hovered in a range of Rs 1972 and Rs 1960 before closing at Rs 1963 as against Rs 1974 previously, showing a loss of Rs 11.
 
In the non-edible section, castoroil commercial moved down by one rupee to Rs 432 from Rs 433 and castorseeds bold by Rs 5 to Rs 2010 from Rs 2015. Linseed oil, however, continued to rule steady at Rs 475. Turning to the edible section, groundnut oil and refined palmolein both closed unchanged at Rs 650 and Rs 433 respectively.
 
Moderate fall in copra oil prices
 
A moderate fall in the prices copra edible Mumbai marked trading in the spices market here today. Copra edible Mumbai dropped by Rs 100 per quintal to Rs 4150 from Rs 4250 on lack of demand. Copra Office Alapuzha also eased by Rs 25 per quintal to Rs 3575 from Rs 3600.
 
Urad, gram down on selling pressure, kabli gram rises
 
Urad and gram weakened in the wholesale pulses market today due to reduced buying amidst government's measures to check the rising pulses prices. However, kabli gram prices surged on stockists buying on expectations that the government might relax exports norms for the commodity.
 
Traders said government's steps to put a brake on rising commodity prices led to a fall in select prices. Urad chilka (local) and best traded lower at Rs 3750-3900 and Rs 3900-4100 per quintal against last close of Rs 3850-4000 and Rs 4000-4200.
 
Gram and its dal (local) traded in negative zone at Rs 2350-2400 and Rs 2800-2900 per quintal respectively against last close of Rs 2375-2450 and Rs 2925-2900.
 
On the other side, kabli gram small was in keen demand among stockists and posted higher at Rs 2500-3000 per qintal against last close of Rs 2460-2600.
 
Sugar prices continue to decline
 
Sugar prices continued to decline in the Vashi Wholesale Market here today due to persistent supply from mills. Prices of small sugar quality (S-30) dropped further by Rs 10/14 per quintal to Rs 1415/1469 from Rs 1429/1479 yesterday and medium sugar quality (M-30) moved down by Rs 2/11 per quintal to Rs 1444/1544 from Rs 1446/1555 previously.
 
Record delivery of 2,690 mt in rape mustard seed at NCDEX
 
The National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange Ltd (NCDEX) today said that record delivery of 2,690 metric tonne (mt) took place in rape mustard seed (R M Seed) February contract.
 
Out of 16 commodities delivered on the exchange, 14 commodities saw delivery to open interest ratio of 100 per cent, as per an statement issued by the exchange.
 
A total of 3,740 mt of maize was delivered, 4,760 mt of wheat was delivered, 1,410 mt of guar seed was delivered, 880 mt of sugar (m) grade was delivered, 753 mt of jeera was delivered. In gold one kg contract, 645 kg of gold was delivered and in gold 100 grams contract 38.4 kg of gold was delivered.
 
In silver, 5,430 kg of silver was delivered and in mentha oil 1.54 lakh kg of mentha oil was delivered for in the February contracts.
