Copper rises 0.2% on strong global cues

Pick-up in spot demand helped the trade to gain

Copper futures for April rose by 85 paise, or 0.20%, to Rs 430.10 per kg in 1,635 lots

At the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), the February contract was up by 65 paise, or 0.15%, at Rs 423.10 per kg in 5,584 lots.

Firming trend on the London Metal Exchange (LME), amid speculation that demand in China will increase in March supported the copper futures trade here.

Pick-up in spot demand helped the trade to gain.

On LME, the three-month contract went up by 0.6% to $7,880 a tonne.

While at Shanghai Futures Exchange (SFEX), it rose 0.30% to 57,320 yuan ($9,198) per tonne.b
