Copper futures for February traded higher by 90 paise, or 0.20%, to Rs 448.30 per kg in 8,137 lots.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, the April contract edged up by similar margin to Rs 452.60 per kg in 638 lots.

Speculators creating fresh positions supported the trade.

Rising spot demand also influenced metal prices.

At the London Metals Exchange, the three-month-contract climbed 0.20% to trade at $ 8,096 a tonne while on the Shanghai Futures Exchange the April contract gained 0.20% to 58,440 yuan ($ 9,380) per tonne.
