Jeera futures prices moved down by Rs 134 to Rs 13,832 per quintal today, after participants reduced their positions due to weak trend at spot markets on subdued demand.
Reports of increased sowing in Gujarat also kept pressure on jeera futures prices.
At the National Commodity and Derivative Exchange, jeera for delivery in January fell by Rs 134, or 0.96%, to Rs 13,832 per quintal, with an open interest of 17,196 lots.
In a similar fashion, the spice for delivery in December lost Rs 99, or 0.73%, to Rs 13,550 per quintal, with a trade volume of 7,953 lots.
Market analysts said the fall in jeera futures prices was mainly due to weak spot demand and reports of increased sowing in the major prouducing state -- Gujarat.
