Markets end flat

The Sensex finally ended (provisional) at 18,104, down nine points. The Nifty was up two points at 5,444.

Markets trade volatile following mixed cues from Europe ahead of European banks' stress results later today.

The Sensex is up 48 points at 18,113. The Nifty is up 13 points at 5457.

Bharti Airtel is up 4.5% at 316, Idea has rallied 4.3% to 68.35.

Realty, healthcare and metal stocks, however, weigh on the markets.

BHEL has gained 1.5%, lifting the capital goods index higher as the company Q1 resuts beat forecast, net profit was up 42%.

Cairn, Reliance Infra and BHEL are prominent gainers on the Nifty.

Gail, JP Associates, Unitech tops losers list on the Nifty, down 1.5 – 2%.
