Mentha oil extended gains for the second straight day by gaining Rs 3 to Rs 1,636 per kg in futures market today on increased demand from pharmaceutical units.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, the February contract gained Rs 3, or 0.18%, to Rs 1,636 per kg, with a business turnover of 607 lots.

The March contract traded higher by the same margin to Rs 1,667 per kg, with a business turnover of 246 lots.

Marketmen said increased demand from pharmaceutical units in the spot market against limited arrivals from Chandausi in Uttar Pradesh mainly helped mentha oil futures to trade higher.
