Rally gains momentum... Sensex up nearly 200pts

The Sensex has rallied smartly and is now up 193 points at 11,160. Earlier in the day, the index opened 162 points lower at 10,805. The index soon dropped to a low of 10,719, and thereafter rebounded into the positive zone.

Tata Motors has zoomed 13.5% to Rs 286. Mahindra & Mahindra has soared 7% to Rs 481.

BHEL has surged over 6% to Rs 1,621. Hindalco has gained 5.5% at Rs 63.

Ranbaxy, DLF and Tata Steel have rallied around 5% each to Rs 198, Rs 245 and Rs 297, respectively.

Grasim, Jaiprakash Associates and Reliance Communications have advanced over 4% each to Rs 1,632, Rs 122 and Rs 228, respectively.

Infosys has plunged over 4% to Rs 1,351. TCS has dropped over 3% to Rs 572.

HDFC Bank and Wipro are down over 1% each at Rs 1,082 and Rs 266, respectively.

The market breadth is fairly significant - out of 2,554 stocks traded so far, 2,095 have advanced, 407 have declined and the rest are unchanged.
