Sensex crosses 14K again, up 139pts

The Sensex has once again crossed the 14,000 mark, and touched a high of 14,008.

The index is now near its high at 13,992, up 139 points.

Hindalco and Jaiprakash Associates have surged 5% each to Rs 77 and Rs 201, respectively. Tata Steel and DLF have gained 4% each at Rs 374 and Rs 313, respectively.

Hero Honda has added 3.8% to Rs 1,455. BHEL, Reliance Communications and Sterlite have advanced 3% each. Reliance Infrastructure, Sun Pharma, Larsen & Toubro, Tata Power, ONGC, Tata Motors, Wipro and Bharti Airtel are the other major gainers.

On the other hand, Infosys and Hindustan Unilever have slipped 1.5% each to Rs 1,776 and Rs 265, respectively.

ITC and Maruti Suzuki have dropped around 1% each.

The market breadth continues to be positive. Out of 2,353 stocks traded, 1,723 have advanced while 557 have declined.
