Sensex flat in opening trades

The Sensex  opened in the positive terrain at 17,151. The index is now flat at 17,142 up 45 points.The NSE Nifty is up at 5115 up 9 points.

Mahindra & Mahindra have advanced 2% to 1,057 and Hindalco increased 1.5% to Rs 142. Tata Steel, Sterlite and Sun Pharma are firm, 1% higher at Rs 552, Rs 844, Rs 845 and Rs 1,459, respectively.

BHEL and SBI have slipped 0.5% each to Rs 2,397 and Rs 2,239, respectively.

The market breadth is positive, out of 1,525 shares traded, 1,034 have advanced and 444 have declined so far on the BSE.
