Sensex flat in volatile trade

The Sensex is now hovering around yesterday's level at 8,198.

Earlier in the day, the index opened 94 points lower at 8,104, and soon touched a low of 8,047. The index, thereafter, rebounded and rallied to a high of 8,265.

Ranbaxy has slumped over 5.5% to Rs 136. Maruti has tumbled over 3% to Rs 646.

ICICI Bank and ITC have shed around 2.5% each at Rs 263 and Rs 164, respectively.

Hindustan Unilever and DLF have dropped 2% each to Rs 225 and Rs 144, respectively.

Tata Power, ACC, Sterlite and Grasim have declined around 1.5% each to Rs 630, Rs 520, Rs 242 and Rs 1,364, respectively.

Jaiprakash Associates has gained 2% at Rs 68. Larsen & Toubro has moved up 1.4% to Rs 577.

TCS and Infosys are up over 1% each at Rs 468 and Rs 1,196, respectively.

The market breadth continues to remain fairly negative at 2:1 - out of 2,246 stocks traded, 1,452 have declined, 704 have advanced and the rest are unchanged.
