Sensex pares gains, up 51pts; Wipro, Infosys drop

The Sensex opened with a positive gap of 263 points at 9,799, touched a high of 9,836, and then began to pare gains. The index is now up 51 points 9,587.

Bharti Airtel has surged 4.5% to Rs 660, and Sterlite has soared over 4% to Rs 247.

Tata Power has gained 3.5% at Rs 757. Reliance Communications, Reliance Infrastructure and Hindalco have moved up nearly 3% each to Rs Rs 222, Rs 557 and Rs 58, respectively.

DLF and ONGC have rallied 2% each to Rs 250 and Rs 725, respectively.

ICICI Bank, Ranbaxy and Jaiprakash Associates are up 1.7% each at Rs 405, Rs 218 and Rs 78, respectively.

Wipro has plunged 5% to Rs 235. Infosys has slumped 3.5% to Rs 1,215.

BHEL has slipped over 2% to Rs 1,308, and ITC has declined over 1% to Rs 168.
