Turmeric futures prices fell by over one per cent to Rs 8,950 per quintal after speculators booked profits, however, some export queries limited the losses.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, turmeric for delivery in May shed Rs 96, or 1.06% to Rs 8,950 per quintal, with an open interest of 13,680 lots.

Similarly, the spice for delivery in June lost Rs 30, or 0.34% to Rs 8,740 per quintal, with a business volume of 5,357 lots.

Analysts said emergence of profit-booking by speculators, after yesterday's gains, mainly led to the decline in turmeric futures prices here but export demand, restricted the losses.
