Turmeric prices rose by Rs 48 to Rs 8,070 per quintal in futures trading today on fresh buying by traders but subdued export demand at higher rates restricted the gain.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, turmeric for delivery in June rose by Rs 48, or 0.60% to Rs 8,070 per quintal, with an open interest of 8,860 lots.
Likewise, the spice for delivery in July gained Rs 14, or 0.18% to Rs 7,994 per quintal in 3,925 lots. Traders attributed the rise in turmeric futures prices to fresh buying by traders on pick-up in spot market demand.
Sluggish export demand at prevailing higher levels restricted the gains to some extent, they added.
