Turmeric prices rose by over one per cent to Rs 10,234 per quintal in futures trade today supported by pick-up in spot demand. 

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, turmeric prices for delivery in April rose by Rs 102, or 1.01%, to Rs 10,234 per quintal, with an open interest of 7,265 lots.

Similarly, the spice for delivery in May moved up by Rs 97, or one%, to Rs 9,705 per quintal, with a business volume of 4,670 lots.

Analysts attributed the rise in turmeric futures prices to increasing demand at the spot market.
